Quotable Quotations

Im still not quite sure why my heart ached the way it did when you said those words as though they were lines from a comedy.

A page of summary.

Finally.

I probably wont be able to recount every single detail that went past the 20 heavenly days.

And i wont, because to even speak of it would damage the immortality of its details, of the fun i had there which i never felt before. There can be several reasons for this, likely to be because i was travelling with my friends which meant there were no naggy parents or irritating cousins to answer to, i met my friends who are staying overseas which is always nostalgic, one of whom i've not met for years and yet he never felt distant, or i just simply transited from hell to heaven after the exams.

From the first day, it was memorable, although for the wrong reasons. I lost the buckle of my haversack at the carousel when we touched down at Sydney, and i began my long torturous journey of shouldering my entire backpack's weight, well, on my shoulders. But at the end of the trip, im proud of myself for just sticking to the haversack and my trusty crumpler, while the rest of the travelling crew had at least one luggage trolley with them.

Thankfully for them too, as i became the ahmad towards the end when steph's luggage went without wheels and it transformed into a huge-ass deadweight that i had to carry in between airports.

Sydney was perhaps a good start to the trip, an induction to the cold weather in Australia without the many sightseeing tours. It was like being back in Singapore, a cosmopolitian city, only that people dressed better and you could walk streets after streets without getting wet in the pits. I had fun there for the very reason that i met my old friend Jinyu, who has changed much ever since we lost gradual contact over the years since JC. Now, he is much more articulate, knows more about food and drinks than anyone i know of, and has just landed himself a job at a cafe in Sydney.

Godspeed to him, although it was a pity we didnt manage to visit his pad due to the biggest shock of our trip. What we thought was a Saturday flight to Brisbane was in fact a Friday one, and thankfully we realised the mistake on Thursday night. Despite the regret of the situation, we made good of it by winning AUD$5 from Starciti.

No many would have claimed to win from the casinos, but we did.

Brisbane, despite the city we landed in after Sydney, was never part of the itinerary. We just basically whore it for our transits, and merely stayed for a longer period than usual just for us to get the best deals for cars. Eventually, Jack the Tarago was chosen, and i still have no idea why do we have an ang moh name for a Nippon car.

That was when we started naming everything we could fine, by our registrar Nei. From Sarah the seatbelt to Germaine the GPS, we had names for everything that came to our mind.

Gold Coast was where we entered the Worlds, the Dream and the Movie, the latter of which is my favourite. Despite the rainy weather (which got us used to wearing ugly ponchos wherever we went), we enjoyed ourselves in the rain. Cute_xbraces was the daredevil, taking most of the rides that we could find. I was actually surprised at how brave Theresa was when she joined up with him for the Superman ride.

Well done Theresa, although we would have loved to have you with us in Melbourne.

Maybe it was the length, or the friends that we met up that made Melbourne carved a special place in my grad trip. For the whole 10 days, i had so much fun it was indeed a tad close to tears when we had to leave. But given that Steph was brave enough not to despite her downpours with the departure of Theresa, i held mine well in solemn.

I always say i am lucky to be surrounded with great friends, and even thousands of miles away in Melbourne, i feel pampered. Weiwei's gesture to house us in despite his exams was a clear testament of the royalty treatment we were going to enjoy for the rest of the trip. Throughout the short but delightful couple of days, we learnt that Weiwei not only is great at slacking just before exams, but also has great Continental plans for his future.

It was just too bad he had to go away for his winery course for the last week of our stay, which we bunked in with Yongsheng.

I have a feeling that both Yongsheng and Weiwei will actually be sick of all the tourist attractions in Melbourne when they return in Decemeber. The sheer number of friends bunking in with them ensures that, as they'll be revisiting one after another every couple of months. Just imagine you or me bringing overseas friends to Sentosa every now and then.

Im quite sure you'll be able to recite every single orchestra of the Musical Fountain in no time.

Other than leeching on the lodging, the kitchen, and the free tour guide by Yongsheng, i also made sure i got a haircut from Yonghsheng saloon. From the very start of the trip my manes were getting out of control, and i decided to go ahead with the decision that would plant holes on my patch. Despite my calls for Yongsheng the barber, several other amateurs like cute_xbraces (who has some experience), and Tatnei (who has NO experience) joined in the "fun".

I felt like i was going through a makeover, for the worst.

The whole event was recorded on tape and i'll probably not upload it because its filled with vulgarities from yours truly. Even God would swear if he had to have his curly manes snipped by amateurs who laugh and discuss how many holes they've created in my hair.

But in retrospect, i had the most fun there, just sitting there watching cute_xbraces with both his hands, looking intendedly concentrated on trimming my fringe, with a stationary scissors.

My greatest regret, if any, is not that i couldnt get any more haviannas back home or not hitting the budget of 2000 pictures for the trip. Nope. Maybe it was partly not catching Wilosophy, or anything at Sydney Opera House since it would have been fun to actually sit in there and watch something. But for me, it was actually not being able to say a proper goodbye to Jinyu, or the Bondi Beach that we planned to visit on our "last day".

Till next time, i shall name it as a "to-go place" if i ever visit Sydney on a leisure trip again.

And to me, the most memorable part of the trip was the trip itself. Cliche, it may be, but that was it. Simply because i never had a bad moment during the trip, despite the only time i called for Nei to shut his gap during the Log Ride. I never had a bad meal for the entire trip, unless you count Azteca as one. And the best part for me was to meet the friends who are Down Under, who showed us such great hospitality it never feel enough just to repay them with free meals or petrol.

So thank you all, my travelling Peeps and the friends who housed us in or showed us around the city.

Oh, and one thing i learnt from the trip is never to mix chilli with hot chocolate. It'll never work.

First night, first train to our hotel in Sydney - Travelodge.

Flying to Sydney Opera House!

Final (unrehearsed) German meal with Jinyu.

Ice-cold at the mountains.
Freezing cold outside David Jones in Sydney. Only we two cocksters would wear berms in this weather.

Virgin attempt at sashimi - successful!

Crikey! Eaten by the Australian Zoo.

The day they became together for 7 years, they took a head-spinning roller coaster ride.

Shrek!

Very poor acting skills and props for guns and handcuffs at Surfers Paradise.

Saying last goodbyes to Theresa at Brisbane airport (unseen footage of short_fart weeping not shown here).

All ready for the war at night. Nope, not wet dreams or insonmia. Weather, cold freezing weather that is.

Some may think its a work of art, some think its crap trying to be cool. Your choice.

The appariations show who ordered Azteca, the red hot spicy hot chocolate that should be banned.

I miss you...Bailey(and Yongsheng and Weiwei too)!

Greatest fun, for them. Greatest misery, for me.

New (gay) plot for Korean drama?

Peeing 40 storeys above ground, and looking down, is orgasmic to cute_xbraces.

Go-karting at Melbourne was fun(i was the last)!

Camwhoring at Melbourne airport enroute home.

20 different days, countless memories.

P.S.: Please refer to shortfart's blog for any posts on the trip after i send her the pictures, which is...soon?
